Gina Wilson, PhD, NBCT is a Math Instructor and CORE Advisor at the Early College Alliance @ Eastern Michigan University. She is a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) in Adolescent and Young Adult Mathematics and the president-elect of Learning Forward Michigan. She is a member of Teach Plus's Michigan Teacher Leader Collaborative and was a finalist for the 2017 – 2018 Michigan State Teacher of the Year award. Dr. Wilson has developed mathematics curriculum for both middle and high school and is committed to helping students understand the power of mathematics and preparing students for post-secondary opportunities. Prior to her teaching career, Dr. Wilson earned a Master of Science in Engineering (Chemical Engineering) from the University of Michigan and developed curriculum for the Women in Science and Engineering Program. Dr. Wilson earned her PhD in Education Leadership and studied the transition from ECA math to EMU math for ECA students identifying as Black females. Her dissertation is titled “Hey, it's not just me...but why, why is this a problem?" Using Black Girl Student Voice to Remove Barriers to Postsecondary Mathematics.
