Applied Studies and Support Teacher: Fall 2021
We are seeking a substitute teacher for a regular, full day assignment for the fall semester (August 30 - December 17). Duties include teaching at least 2 sections of an Applied Studies course as well as other duties, potentially including: covering other courses as needed as a substitute, assisting with electronic records-keeping tasks, supervising students during lunch hours, proctoring tests, after-school tutoring, general mentoring of students, and other duties as assigned. Applied Studies is a non-core-content course in which students apply skills such as time management, organization, and study strategies to support their work in other academic classes. Teachers provide support and structure for focused, goal-driven independent work, and meet individually with students to help them meet their goals.
Applicants should be aware that the school operates directly on the campus of EMU and walking from building to building is required. The expected time frame is 8:30am - 3:30pm (or equivalent number of hours). EMU's Covid safety protocols will be enforced at all times on campus, including a requirement to wear masks indoors regardless of vaccination status. Parking will be provided.
This position will be staffed through our employment agency, EduStaff. If the employee is not already an EduStaff Substitute Teacher, a background check, fingerprinting, training, and a substitute teacher's permit will be required. The ECA pays for training and fingerprinting. The rate of pay for this position is $20/hr or $120/day.
